These are both good resources, I use quite frequently. Keep in mind, alot of these folks are still doing guess work, unless they've actually worked for an engine. Thanks.

A lot of what they say on these sites isn't making sense to me yet. But I just found several websites that seem to be forums about people discussing Search Engine Optimization generally.

DMOZ is one of the original internet directories that was used to establish a few different engines, such as Yahoo! Google used it for a period of time, but I believe they pretty much rely on their own systems now. uses a combination of things as a base for it's engine, Teoma. DMOZ was used, but Wikipedia is one of it's main way to identify content now. Per the article, you are seeing more and more results from Wikipedia showing up in Google. But that is also because it is a site that can be indexed, where as DMOZ was a directory that was used for indexing. Really two different approaches. I'm not sure if I clarified for you, but I hope some of that helped to explain it all a bit better. Thanks.

                Jay or Michael,
Can one of you explain to me what this article is talking about? I don't get it. I think it's saying that DMOZ is the base for most search engines, but Wikipedia seems to be taking over. Does that make sense? I'm not sure what that means. I've seen "dmoz" online before, but don't quite understand what it is. Is it just a user edited directory listing of sites on the internet? If so, what's the value in that.
