I don't think we need more detailed results from QA. But with old school decoys I thought there was a problem that those don't (or maybe just usually don't) get entered into a database.

To determine real vs fake, we use the hash/torrent identifier. All of the below techniques are grouped in a generic category of "old-school decoy" in the db and that's how they get reported as in our results. If we want to differentiate between these in our test results, we need better inputs in the db by the torrent team. Sounds like the torrent team needs a better process to organize what type of torrents they're posting where. That will in turn allow us to report more detailed test results

Tabish,

fyi....

is your team aware of this? how does this get considered in your download testing? are you filtering out hashes you know are ours?

Ben,

Old School 50-75% Real. All files are complete except the main avi (movie file) which is inflated with 0's and 1's to make the file appear as those it is complete. User may open may open the file and play the avi.

Old School (screwed and chopped). This varies. It can be a combination of these things:

a. audio is out of sync

b. movie contains a trailer (takes place of portions of the original movie)

c. Language is switched intermittently (Russian/English).

d. Deleted scenes. Important scenes are deleted throughout movie.

e. Reduced quality video. (Pixilated, blurred, inverted video, etc)

Pedro, Mark, Herden, Rendy, Gerald and Niles,

How are you liking your new digs by QA?

What kind of chopped and screwed decoys have you made? Just briefly describe what they do. For example, "cut off last 20 min of video," "resynched audio backwards," "dubbed 'piracy is illegal' on all fighting sequences." Just take a first pass of letting us know what sort of techniques you've tried.

Thanks,

Ben

There was an overall increase in today's effectiveness except on Mininova, Piratebay and TorrentSpy. The real files that do show up are primarily at the top of the list with thousands of seeds/leechers. There were a few new real torrents that showed up in today's testing, and those have been added to our interdiction system.
